Trich in the News

Friday, the research team at the Duke Center for Human Genetics released evidence that they've found a connection between a mutation in the gene SLITKR1 and Trichotillomania. The story was picked up by a number of new services including MSNBC and FOX News. Great timing for All Join Hands to have Trich in the news!

This makes me happy that research is actually being done, discoveries made and some progress being is happening. It happened last Friday during Trich awareness week--definitely perfect timing!

I just read the MSNBC article and realzed that I used to pull my hair when I was a teenager. I thought nothing of it at the time, it was quite mild and I have no inclination to do so now. I wonder if it's actually a natural stage that most pubescent teens go through, it's just that some folks "get stuck."
